A significant milestone was achieved
by UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta on Saturday, March 15, 2025, as the university
officially signed a strategic partnership with the Faculty of Medicine at
Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Semarang. The agreement, signed during a
ceremony at the 2nd Floor PAU Meeting Room on the UIN Sunan Kalijaga campus,
marks a critical step forward in realizing the university’s longstanding
aspiration to establish its own Faculty of Medicine.
The signing ceremony was attended by
the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, along with university
leaders, including the Chair of the Academic Senate, Prof. Dr. Kamsi, the
Senate Secretary, Prof. Dr. Maragustam, and the Head of the Task Force for the
Faculty of Medicine Establishment, Prof. Dr. Sri Sumarni, along with her team.
Representing UNDIP were the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu
Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B, Subsp. Onk(K), accompanied by vice deans and the
cooperation team.
Also present were key figures who
have supported the initiative from its early stages, including the Head of the
Medical and Health Division of the Yogyakarta Police (Kabiddokkes Polda DIY),
AKBP dr. Fajar Amansyah, Sp.PD, FINASIM, and the Dean of the Faculty of
Medicine at UIN Walisongo Semarang, Dr. dr. Sugeng Ibrahim, M.Biomed., AMM.
Their ongoing guidance, encouragement, and contributions have been instrumental
in bringing this vision closer to reality.
In his remarks, Prof. Noorhaidi
expressed deep pride and gratitude for the partnership. He emphasized that the
establishment of a Faculty of Medicine at UIN Sunan Kalijaga is not merely a
goal, but a solemn commitment that has been nurtured over the years. Since
2019, the university’s Academic Senate has fully endorsed the plan, and two
years ago, the Biomedical Science Study Program was launched as an initial
foundation. Now, with strong support from UNDIP, that dream is steadily
becoming a reality.
“We are truly honored and grateful
for the willingness of UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine to support us on this
journey. With strong determination, hard work, and solid collaboration, we
believe that UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s Faculty of Medicine will soon stand proudly
and produce highly competent doctors who will serve society with dedication,”
said Prof. Noorhaidi with optimism.
Echoing this sentiment, Dr. dr. Yan
Wisnu Prajoko affirmed UNDIP’s enthusiasm for the collaboration. He noted UIN
Sunan Kalijaga’s strong potential to establish a high-quality, reputable
medical faculty.
“This collaboration reflects a
shared spirit of support and mutual growth. We are confident that, through this
partnership, UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s Faculty of Medicine will soon come to life
and become one of the leading medical schools in Indonesia,” he said
confidently.
The highlight of the event was the
formal signing of the cooperation agreement by the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga
and the Dean of UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine. More than a ceremonial gesture,
the agreement signifies a collective pledge to move forward with precision,
speed, and strategic clarity.
Following the signing, both
institutions engaged in a discussion and knowledge-sharing session between the
Faculty of Medicine Task Force from UIN Sunan Kalijaga and the team from UNDIP.
The session featured exchanges on key strategies, common challenges, and
crucial steps in building a medical faculty. Drawing from its established
experience, UNDIP’s team provided valuable insights aimed at strengthening UIN
Sunan Kalijaga’s planning and implementation processes. The dynamic and
constructive dialogue reflected the genuine spirit of collaboration.
With this solid partnership now in
place, UIN Sunan Kalijaga is steadily advancing on its path toward opening a
Faculty of Medicine. More than just a physical institution, the faculty is
envisioned as a center for producing medical professionals ready to contribute
meaningfully to the nation's healthcare system.
A new chapter has begun, and history
is being written at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
